Learn the basics of digital dentistry in five days at this unique program combining accredited continuing education with a magical winter program. By the end of the week you will be applying CBCT, CAD/CAM and 3D printing techniques for restorations, further increasing your clinical proficiency and enhancing your clinical workflow with digital tools. 


NIDE 3D printing

Day 1: 3D Imaging and Diagnostics

  • Principles of dental imaging
  • 2D and 3D imaging in dentistry
  • Basic dental anatomy revisited + 3D anatomy (+ exercises)
  • 3D image analysis: introduction
  • CBCT and 3D image analysis
  • Diagnostic applications of CBCT
  • Basic dental pathology examples and software considerations
  • Small, medium & large field-of-view CBCT
  • Principles of use, dosimetry and radioprotection exercises (imaging protocols)

Day 2: 3D Imaging and Diagnostics

  • Interpretation principles in radiology
  • 3D image manipulation and planning
  • Diagnostic considerations for endo/perio/prostho/ortho
  • CBCT diagnostics: indications and pathology
  • Pathology examples and exercises
  • Advanced image analyses: 3D manipulation
  • 3D visualization techniques
  • Artifacts: practical considerations

Day 3: Planmeca Digital Perfection Tour

  • Factory tour - Planmeca dental units
  • Welcome to Planmeca Group - Company presentation
  • Planmeca Romexis® software - Showcasing the latest features of the world-leading imaging software
  • VR - implant planning in virtual reality
  • Planmeca dental units - Hands-on demonstration

Day 4: Dental CAD/CAM Workflow

  • CAD CAM Dentistry – Chairside system overview and basic scanning techniques
  • Introduction to Milling System, Milling materials
  • Hands-on: Scanning, designing and milling of a single premolar crown with buccal bite
  • Hands-on: Scanning, designing and milling of a single molar crown
  • Hands-on: Scanning, designing and milling of a veneer, pre op and mirroring

Day 5: 3D Printing

  • Introduction to 3D Printing
  • How to use Creo C5 Studio software
  • Preparing stl for printing
  • Test printing
  • Post-processing of prints
  • Hands-on: 3D printed guide
  • Hands-on: 3D printed model

CBCT, CAD/CAM and 3D Printing Hands-on Training

The program will include training with Planmeca’s latest products Planmeca Viso,
Planmeca Romexis® 5.2 software, Planmeca ProMax™ 3D imaging equipment, Planmeca Emerald™ S intraoral scanner, Planmeca PlanMill® 40 S and Planmeca Creo™ C5 3D printer.
