During this premium 5-day CBCT course programme you will learn to interpret CBCT images, understand effective patient doses and the aspects that influence image quality. By the end of the week, you will practice advanced image manipulation and analysis with exercises related to implantology, orthodontics and endodontics.

Day 1: 3D Imaging and Diagnostics

  • Principles of dental imaging
  • 2D and 3D imaging in dentistry
  • Basic dental anatomy revisited + 3D anatomy (+ exercises)
  • 3D image analysis: introduction
  • CBCT and 3D image analysis
  • Diagnostic applications of CBCT
  • Basic dental pathology examples and software considerations
  • Small, medium & large field-of-view CBCT
  • Principles of use, dosimetry and radioprotection exercises (imaging protocols)

Day 2: 3D Imaging and Diagnostics

  • Interpretation principles in radiology
  • 3D image manipulation and planning
  • Diagnostic considerations for endo/perio/prostho/ortho
  • CBCT diagnostics: indications and pathology
  • Pathology examples and exercises
  • Advanced image analyses: 3D manipulation
  • 3D visualization techniques
  • Artifacts: practical considerations

Day 3: Advanced 3D Diagnostics

  • CBCT integration in clinical practices
  • How to acquire adequate CBCT images
  • Patient dose vs. image quality
  • Hands-on: influence of exposure parameters on image quality
  • Hands-on: how to assure image quality
  • European guidelines on CBCT use, selection criteria of clinical indications
  • Technological and exposure parameters. Influence on different diagnostic cases
  • Case series on exposure parameter and quality assurance
  • Software analysis exercises

Day 4: Advanced 3D Diagnostics

  • Advanced image manipulation: 3D objects, segmentation and MPR reconstructions for specific diagnostic cases
  • Advanced analysis exercises for implants (Optical scan fusion), for Orthodontics (3D models and segmentation), and for endodontics
  • Advanced head and neck diagnostics using CBCT: reporting on advanced cases
  • Pathology examples and exercises

CBCT Hands-on Training

The program will include training with Planmeca’s latest products Planmeca Viso,
Planmeca Romexis® 5.2 software and using the Planmeca ProMax™ 3D imaging equipment.
