In this evidence-based 5-day CAD/CAM course program you will understand the clinical applications of CAD/CAM, and learn the technical skills required to use CAD/CAM technology as part of your restorative workflow. By the end of the week you will be applying CAD/CAM techniques for creating multiple restorations, further increasing your clinical proficiency. 



Day 1: Fundamentals of CAD/CAM

  • Overview of dental chairside CAD/CAM systems
  • Principles of adhesion to ceramics and tooth surfaces
  • Hands-on: using the Planmeca Emerald intraoral scanner and Planmeca Romexis® CAD/CAM module
  • Rules of preparation: inlay/onlay, veneer, crown
  • Clinical cases: success and failure

Day 2: Fundamentals of CAD/CAM

  • Hands-on: scanning, designing and milling a single molar crown
  • Hands-on: scanning, designing and milling an onlay
  • Cementing: overview of cements, cementing restorations
  • Stain and glaze – milling materials and finishing the restoration
  • Performance assessment of scans, designs and milled products

Day 3: Planmeca Digital Perfection Tour

  • Factory tour – Planmeca dental units
  • Planmeca imaging units - Showcasing the latest development in cbct imaging
  • Planmeca Romexis® software - Showcasing the latest features of the world-leading imaging software
  • Factory tour – Planmeca imaging units
  • VR - implant planning in virtual reality
  • Hands-on demonstration – Planmeca dental units

Day 4: Beyond the Basics of CAD/CAM

  • Rules of preparation for multiple restorations in the anterior zone
  • Rules of preparation for multiple restorations in the posterior zone
  • Tooth wear and occlusion
  • Techniques for optimal tissue management and provisionalization
  • Material selection in anterior and posterior cases

Day 5: Beyond the Basics of CAD/CAM

  • Planning, placing and restoring single and multiple implant-retained restorations
  • Material selection for implant-supported restorations
  • Hands-on: scanning and designing a single implant-supported crown
  • Clinical complications and solutions for multiple restorations

CAD/CAM Hands-on Training

The programme includes training with Planmeca’s latest products Planmeca Creo™ C5, introduction to the Planmeca Romexis® 6.0 software and using the Planmeca Emerald™ intraoral scanner and Planmeca PlanMill® 40 S.
